"The Cuppy cake song"

Just yesterday I was talking to a very close friend of mine and she told me about the “Cuppycake song” by Amy Castle which she recorded when she was about 3years old. The song goes this way:

You're my Honeybunch, Sugarplum

Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You're my Sweetie Pie

You're my Cuppycake, Gumdrop

Snoogums-Boogums, You're the Apple of my Eye

And I love you so and I want you to know

That I'll always be right here

And I love to sing sweet songs to you

Because you are so dear

I am sure that many people have come across it and have seen the videos of this song posted on youtube. If not I would say go ahead and watch it. It is really beautiful. I liked it so much that I immediately Googled it up and found the lyrics and a site dedicated exclusively for the song. In the site her mother says she wrote the song for her daughter thinking of all the sweet names her parents had called her and sweet names she called her daughter Amy.

After reading this I tried to remember what were the sweet names my parents called me. My mother had a very weird way of expressing her feelings. She used to call me “Goobe” (which in Kannada means an owl) with lots of love. She used it so often that apparently when I was just about 2 years old I was convinced that it was my name and when some one had come home and asked me what my name was I matter of factly had said “Goobe”. That is the last I was called any sweet name. From then on I have always been called by my first name and I am sure this will continue. Am I glad and so thankful to my parents for it, else probably I would still be mistaken about my name.

Owls are symbolic of wisdom. Wonder why you are THANKFUL of not being called wise.
